Pests shut down local eateries

August was a busy month for health inspectors in Richmond who temporarily shut down a dozen local eateries due to health infractions. The food fair at President Plaza at 8181 Cambie Rd. was especially hard hit.

Bedbugs found in local elementary school

The pests have been spotted at Salem Elementary School in Russell County. Teachers have imposed a ban on school materials going home with students and backpacks and lunch boxes coming into the school. School leaders hope they can keep the problem from getting out of hand.
